I am still learning to wing foil and this is a my second board. I decided to get a board that is lightly longer and thinner than my first board so I can wing in lighter winds. I took it out on its maiden voyage in 12-14 knots and it was delightful to ride. The extra length makes the board very quick and smooth to get up on the foil and also smooth to land the board, this is important where I ride because we have a lot of wind chop and seaweed. It took a few runs to work out where to place my feet and after that I felt very comfortable. The extra length makes it easier to go from kneeling to standing as the board doesn't nose dive like my shorter board when I shift my weight. I was nervous about the slightly narrower board being less stable, but this was not the case. In fact, the narrower board is easier to climb onto. This new style of longer, thinner board is a great progression in design to my original short, fat board, much more user friendly.

The Drifter 5 evolves toward slightly longer and narrower proportions to improve glide, efficiency, and take off. This refined direction allows the board to accelerate faster in lulls and gusty winds while maintaining a stable and balanced standing area in choppy water. Ideal for riders looking for a wider user-friendly platform. Our signature yet subtle aero nose reduces windage, cuts through chop, hides volume, and helps with water starts without sacrificing overall balance. With redesigned bottom contours, rail transitions, and volume distribution, the result is a compact, stable, yet efficient and playful foil board that remains balanced and versatile.
